Tina Johnson: Curator / Librarian - Davis County School District

Tina Johnson explains the process and policies within Davis School District to review and curate books. Each school librarian orders books appropriate for its community based upon demographic, age appropriateness and other factors as established by the State, State Board of Education, and County School Board. Listen in to learn about the power parents have to regulate and monitor the books their children read.

Our community of Oaxaca in Utah is a non-profit organization, and we are happy to be able to show our beautiful state of Oaxaca through the food, tradition, customs, education, dance, and love of our Oaxacan people. 

The Guelaguetza

  

Norma Carver is the brilliant creator of Oaxaca in Utah which began more than 10 years ago. During the course of that time it was decided in 2020 to carry out the first Guelaguetza, we were 7 families that came together and enjoyed our beautiful Oaxaca.

Please join them on July 22, 20203 in Kaysville at Heritage Park for their Celebration of Culture, Food, Traditions and Small Businesses!

In 2021 it is decided to make the first public Guelaguetza for the state of Utah. The event was a success, we had the participation of 500-550 people.

 

This 2022 La Guelaguetza 2022 is organized and the number of people is 7,000 people who came together in one place to enjoy this solemn Oaxacan festivity.

Jaysen Christensen: Kaysville City Manager

Please join with us in welcoming Jaysen Christensen. Kaysville CIty's 3rd City Manager. Jaysen joined us this month and has hit the ground running. 

Jaysen Christensen has over 20 years of experience in municipal management, primarily in suburban cities of the St. Louis Missouri region. He has served as City Administrator in some of the most desirable communities in Missouri, including Glendale and Frontenac. Jaysen grew up in Pleasant Grove and received his BA and MPA at BYU. He has strong orientation toward delivering great customer service and is more than excited and honored to come to work in Kaysville, which already feels like home.

He and his beautiful, smart, amazing wife, Heidi, met at BYU and have four children. Zach, Kate, and Bryan are currently in college at Alaska, BYU, and Utah State respectively. The youngest, Erin, will be in 8th grade this fall. All four are track and cross country enthusiasts, and Erin is thrilled at the opportunity to eventually go to one of the best running schools in the entire country at Davis High!

In his free time, Jaysen loves all kinds of music, Indian food, everything from the '80s, and adventuring anywhere with the family.

Abbi Hunt: City Council Woman, Mom, Student

Abbi Hunt began her service as a City Council Woman in January 2022. After serving on the Kaysville Planning Commission she fell in love with her city and realized how much she loves making a difference by being a policy maker. Abbi and her husband moved to Utah several years ago and fell in love with Kaysville with their three girls.

Jordan and Jennifer Olson: a Subway Sandwich Love Story

As employees at the Kaysville Subway, Jordan and Jen first met while making sandwiches for hungry customers. Little did they know that their love for each other and their love for Subway would lead them to create their dream life together.
